Taking Care Of Our Oceans... In Colorado

Partnering up with organizations doing cleanups virtually anywhere--from beaches to lake shores, rivers, inland trails and urban centers--is what fuels us at Ocean Minded. When we got the call from Colorado Ocean Coalition (COCO), however, we were especially excited. Taking care of the world's oceans in Colorado?? Sign us up!

Based in Boulder (which happens to be formally recognized as the first Inland Ocean Community in the United States), the Colorado Ocean Coalition believes that "you don’t have to be near the ocean to care about it". With the complexities of a global economy and the interconnectedness of all ecosystems, COCO promotes the idea that actions taken in the mountains impact the health of the seas. Through the development of their Strategic Plan, the launch of the Ocean Ambassadors certification program, regional conferences on ocean protection and monthly education and networking event series, the Coalition is making some serious waves in the mountain states.

On May 18th COCO hosted a Boulder Creek Cleanup led by students from Dawson High School. We were absolutely thrilled to support the crew who came out and stoke them out a bit with some OM schwag. We're so thankful to them for being Ocean Minded in Colorado and for truly believing that "Eventually, Eveything Ends Up In The Ocean." Find out more about their efforts on their website and, if you can, join us at our next cleanup!
