Considered to be one of the world’s premiere big wave riders, twenty-six year old Greg Long describes himself as ‘happy, adventurous, and motivated’. The native of San Clemente, California, is a past NSSA Men’s national champion, the 2008 Mavericks Surf Contest champion, and recently won what some call the most prestigious big-wave surf contest in the world – the 2009 Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau event.
Along with his brother Rusty, Greg constantly travels the globe in search of the biggest waves and the adventure that comes with it. In December of 2009, he led a ‘dream crew’ out to the huge surf of the Cortes Bank, a dangerously shallow chain of underwater mountains in the Pacific Ocean, about 115 miles west of San Diego, CA.
Greg is also sponsored by Billabong, Von Zipper and Xcel Wetsuits.
