In 2003 Bethany Hamilton shocked the world with her courage and determination after losing her left arm in a shark attack on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii, her home.
With her commitment to surfing unscathed, Bethany was back in the water a month later and immediately became an international symbol of bravery, perseverance and strength. It is with that same drive and devotion that she competes today.
Bethany joined Ocean Minded in 2008 and has helped develop The Meilani, her signature sandal, which is available in stores and online now.
She will begin filming a Hollywood feature film (about her life story) entitled ‘Soul Surfer’, in the same month she turns twenty years old – February 2010.
