Walking the Daisies and Keeping the Coast Clean in South Africa

Ever hiked through South Africa, cleaning up the coastline, planting trees, doing yoga and simply trekking along to a two-day, outdoor music festival? If not, than we highly suggest you consider joining Ocean Minded and the philanthropic crew at Walking the Daisies next year! On October 8-9, 2012, Walking the Daisies set foot on a 37 mile hike to raise awareness, support and enhance the environmental efforts of Rocking the Daisies, South Africa’s eco-friendly music festival. This 2-day hike stretched along the west coast wildflower region, starting in Capetown and ending at the festival grounds on Cloof Wine Estate, just outside Darling.

Ocean Minded was proud to sponsor the environmental efforts of Walking the Daisies and host the 2-day hike clean-up. Exactly 100 walkers with cleaning supplies in hand combed the beaches from Kreeftebaai through to Melkbostrand on the West coast of South Africa, collecting a total of 2425 pounds of trash!

“We’re really proud to be part of Walking the Daisies 2012, and a huge thank you to all the walkers for helping keep our beaches clean,” said Tim Starke, Marketing Manager for Ocean Minded in South Africa.
